Our customer service department regularly gets feedback from customers who question the safety of laxatives. These folks are right to be concerned. Although constipation is a problem that needs remedy, and laxatives are often thought of as that remedy, this is a topic that really deserves a second look. There’s been discussions and research that suggest herbal laxatives aren’t without risk.

On February 10, 2011, I was interviewed by Matt Monarch from Therawfoodworld.com. We discussed a variety of natural health topics, including the pro’s and con’s of colon cleansing and other body cleansing methods, tips to help you improve your overall health and well-being, as well as how to green your work and living environments.

What are Enemas? Enemas have been around for a very long time and present the oldest known relief for constipation. It’s a simple process: fluid is injected from a bag into the anus. Usually only water is injected, but other liquids and ingredients including herbs, coffee, oil, and clay might be added. “Dry enemas” are also used to clear the bowel. A sterile lubricant is injected into the rectum using a syringe (without a needle). In effect, this process is similar to using suppositories, except faster.
