Health Benefits of Sporopollenin

What is Sporopollenin?

The outer walls of spores and pollen grains is tough and, chemically, very stable. This causes it to be well preserved in sediments and soils. One of the most significant compounds of the cell wall is a substance known as Sporopollenin.

The exact chemical composition of sporopollenin is of significant interest. The strong chemical stability and resistance to degradation from enzymes has lead to interest in its potentials, however, there are still lingering questions as to the primary makeup of sporopollenin. To date, analyses have shown it to include carotenoids, phenolics, phenylpropanoids, and long chain fatty acids. It is believed that phenylalanine and other carbon sources are also involved.

Benefits of Sporopollenin

Sporopollenin as a component of pollen grain cellular walls may sound like something of an abstract concept, however sporopollenin has been shown to provide a number of very real benefits. Sporopollenin can be an ingested nutritional supplement and has been reported to help reduce pain, symptoms of depression, and stress. However, one of its most profound attributes is that it is known to have a fantastic ability to act like a sponge around substances such as pesticides, toxins, chemicals and toxic metals, soaking them up and binding them together.

This has lead Global Healing Center to include sporopollenin as an ingredient in their organic detox foot pads that are used to detox the body.

The Need for Sporopollenin

Unfortunately, the modern industrial world has lead to a saturation within our atmosphere of toxins, which includes chemicals and toxic metals. Our environment, our water sources, and the food we eat are all affected by this. Mercury, arsenic, aluminum, cadmium, lead, and nickel exposure is widespread and can lead to a number of serious health conditions.

Archeological studies comparing ancient bones to those of recently deceased people have shown that we have roughly 1,000 times more metal toxins in our bodies. Over time, the buildup of these metals in our bodies can harm the bones and kidneys, cardiovascular and immune system, and even lead to heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and other degenerative diseases of the nervous system.

We also live during a time when the excessive use of fossil fuels and other non-renewable
resources has caused pollution.

Sporopollenin when used in Detox Foot Pads™ is an effective detoxifying agent that may significantly reduce the amount of toxins you have in your body.

Sporopollenin is one of the most inert, if not the most inert, biopolymers known to science. It therefore does not react with anything in your body, which means it cannot provide any health benefits. This is a classic example of pseudoscience. How do I know? I’m a scientist engaged in the study of pollen. Extracting pollen from soil or plant samples for study requires boiling it in much stronger acids than your stomach produces – and leaves it unchanged. Your stomach certainly won’t break it down.
