Apple Cider Vinegar- Information in this article was obtained out of "Folk Medicine" books by Dr. D.C. Jarvis.
Dr. Jarvis beleived that apple cider vinegar could be used for many ailments and as a good source of nutrition. Here are some of the interesting things he talks about in the book "Vermont Folk Medicine" which is out of print but I got one from Amazon.com.
To replenish minerals take 2 teaspoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with glass of water with each meal (3 times a day)
There is no substitute for the perfect start (during pregnancy pre-natal nutrition). Take 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in the morning and that will prevent morning sickness. During the day drink a glass of cranberry, apple or grape juice.
Give female and male apple cider vinegar.
No wheat foods, but corn or oat cereals and corn or rye bread.
Honey instead of white sugar.
Apples, grapes, cranberries.
No citrus fruit (oranges or grapefruit).
Glass of water mixed with honey and vinegar and sip at each meal (increases potassium levels).
people of Nordic descent should eat ten times more fish and seafood due to their genetics. They should take kelp supplements. Avoid beef, pork and lamb.
High gear people should avoid citrus fruit (makes alkaline urine), avoid wheat, less meat, more fish, eat cornbread, corn and popcorn. Take 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in water before breakfast. No cold drinks are recommended but rather warm drinks. Footbath up to over ankles for 20 minutes at bedtime.
*Potassium is to soft tissue what calcium is to the hard tissue of the body. Potassium slows up the hardening process that menaces the whole blood vessel system. If there is enough potassium in each body cell it will draw moisture from the bacteria instead of bacteria taking moisture from the body cell. It is by taking care to eat foods which are a source of potassium, such as fruit, berries, edible leaves, edible roots, and honey and by the use of apple cider vinegar that the body cells are provided with the moisture attracting potassium needed to win the contest with bacteria. Potassium alone is not as effective in producing results as potassium with associated minerals, some of which must activate the potassium apple cider vinegar associates phosphorus, chlorine, sodium, magnesium, calcium, selenium, irons, fluorides, silicon and many trace minerals with potassium. ("An apple a day keeps the doctor away" is a familiar adage. Apple cider vinegar carries all the above-named minerals over from the original apple.)
*If there is inflammation in the kidney called pyelitis, in which pus cells are present in the urine, generally the condition can be cleared up taking a mixture of 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. A person who suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome should avoid eating wheat, should eat more fish and ocean food because one of the reasons for the fatigue is a need for more iodine and other minerals abundantly present in fish and other ocean food. Baked beans can be taken as many as three times a week and sip water with apple vinegar.
*Folk medicine finds another application of apple cider vinegar efficacious in treating migraine headaches. It is a vaporizing method. Put equal parts of the vinegar and water in a small basin on the store allowing it to boil slowly. When fumes begin to rise from the basin, lean the head over it until the fumes are comfortably strong. Inhale them for 75 breaths. Generally you will find that the Headache stops for about half an hour. If it starts again it will be about 50% less severe.
*For sore throat, gargle apple cider vinegar. Mixture is 1 teaspoon of the vinegar to a glass of water. One mouthful of the solution is gargled every hour and swallowed after gargling.
