Study: Cell Phone Radiation May Vary According to Brand

Category: Health Dangers, Health News, Warning

Many consumers are unaware that different cell phones emit different amounts of harmful radiation, particularly when used closed to the ear and head. And, the debate as to whether radiation from these cell phones can be directly linked to cancer has been circulating for years.

Recent reports from the watchdog agency, the Environmental Working Group, show that cellphone radiation levels may vary widely according to brands, and that some phones may be dangerously high. This comes as additional clarification on reports from the EWG showing that individuals using cellphones for over ten years may have higher cancer risk than those who have not been using phones.

On the other end of the fence is the CTIA, a cellphone industry lobbying group, which fully denies the link between radiation and harmful health effects, stating that “scientific evidence has overwhelmingly indicated that wireless devices do not pose risk.”

Within these two ranges of differing opinions, what are we, the consumer, supposed to believe?

Perhaps the better questions is to ask ourselves, “Within the on-going debate and emerging research, is it helpful to know which cell phones are emitting high amounts of radiation?” The answer is an emphatic, “yes.”

Study: Vegetarians Are 45% Less Likely to Develop Cancer

Category: Health News, Healthy Foods, Natural Health
Author: Dr. Edward Group @ 3:59 pm

Remember what a drag it was when Mom used to nag at you to eat your veggies at dinner? She may have been saving your life.

A study conducted in part by scientists at Oxford University’s Cancer Epidemiology Unit indicates that vegetarians develop some cancers, including bladder and stomach cancers and leukemia, up to 45% less than persons who eat red meat, that’s nearly half the risk! The study was published in the British Journal of Cancer earlier this year.

According to the National Cancer Institute, limiting your fruit and vegetable intake actually puts you at risk of developing cancer. Consider fruits and vegetables to your body like income to your bank account. The more you eat, and fill up your body’s bank account, the more “stuff” you can do, like fight off diseases, maintain healthy vision and organ function, be athletic, travel, focus, learn.

When your body is low on funds, you run into problems paying the bills and meeting the demands of life. Keeping your body’s bank account full is like keeping a nest egg or an emergency fund. As long as you’ve continued feeding your body good live things, you’re better equipped to handle whatever comes your way, mentally, emotionally and physically.

Are You At Risk For Colorectal Cancer?

Category: Health News, Intestinal Health
Author: Dr. Edward Group @ 11:02 am

When the cells lining the colon and/or rectum begin to grow out of control, they can form a polyp that may or may not become cancerous.

The most common types of polyp that occur in the colon are hyperplastic polyps, adenomas, and inflammatory polyps. Adenomas and inflammatory polyps have the potential to form cancer and are typically removed during screenings.

Symptoms of Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer can remain asymptomatic during the early stages. As the cancer progresses, changes in the consistency or timing of bowel movements may occur, along with seeing blood in the stool.

Other symptoms of colorectal cancer include the feeling that evacuation is incomplete after using the bathroom, abdominal pain, gas and cramps. As with most cancers, weight loss, muscle weakness and fatigue can also take place.

The Health Risks & Benefits of the Oleander Plant

Category: Natural Health
Author: Dr. Edward Group @ 2:49 pm

Warning: Oleander extract is made from a highly-lethal, poisonous plant. The following post is meant to offer exciting insight into emerging scientific evidence of its use as a natural remedy. Taking this extract without the guidance of an expert can lead to serious health complications, including death.

Recently I have had alot of questions regarding the benefits and risks of taking Oleander Extract for cancer as well as the bird or swine flu and other conditions. I think that this plant has amazing properties and is definitely worth writing a post about.

I do, however, recommend anyone wanting to take this herb do their own research. Sometimes the most poisonous plants give us the most rapid health benefits but must be used with extreme caution.

The Hidden Formaldehyde In Everyday Products

Embalming Fluid

Producers are tricky, and their business sometimes involves tricking consumers. They trick us into buying very handy products for cleaning, deodorizing, softening, smoothing, and beautifying that often contain dangerous chemicals.

If the word “formaldehyde” doesn’t remind you of an embalmed body on a cold steel table, it should!

Formaldehyde has been used for decades to embalm dead bodies for open casket burials. It is a preservation fluid that replaces the blood, it is a recognized cancer causing agent (carcinogen) by the National Cancer Institute, and oh, by the way, it is in most of the products you buy and use around your home, even the materials your home was built with!

Is My Home Embalmed?

It might surprise you to know that much of the shelving, furniture, wall finishes, carpet, cabinetry and flooring in your home could contain this dangerous chemical. Formaldehyde can also be found in these building materials:
  • Glue
  • Plywood
  • Fiberboard
  • Insulation
  • Particleboard
  • Timber Paneling

Alcohol & Breast Cancer: The One Million Women Study

Wine and Breast Cancer

You may have heard of The Million Women Study, an Oxford University-based research effort that is making an attempt to come to a final decision on whether hormone replacement therapy is helping women through some of the more uncomfortable symptoms of menopause, or, in fact, giving them cancer. Beyond answering these questions, The Million Women Study is quickly becoming what many experts are calling a “blueprint for women’s health.”

In a recent article from The Guardian, “A million women can’t be wrong,” it was announced that the study had found that even a small amount of all types of wine can lead to increases in a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer later in life.

These are, indeed, shocking findings, considering that red wine has often been touted as one of the best ways to prevent cardiovascular diseases.

The Oxford study also looked at a variety of controversial women’s health issues, including birth control medication, hormone replacement therapy, diet, pregnancy, childbearing, as well as menopause. The study, unlike many other small-scale undertakings, involves extremely reliable information, due to the sheer size of the number of women surveyed.

Studies Show Cellphone Use Linked to Brain Cancer & Death in Children

Children and Cellphones

Kids love being connected to their friends, making it no surprise that recent statistics show that over 30% of all children under 13 years of age in the U.S. own their own cellular phone.

Similarly, almost 50% of all teens own a cell phone. With the knowledge that cellphone use amongst children is increasing at an alarming rate, it is even more disheartening to learn that studies are now beginning to prove some of the extremely negative effects that electromagnetic fields and radio frequency radiation are having on their bodies.

Multiple recent studies, including one from an international group of scientists, is urging governments to place stricter regulations on cellphone use, particularly due to the latest outcome of their investigations: Young people who use cell phones before the age of 20 are five times more likely to be at risk for malignant brain tumors than children who do not use mobile phones.

Are Mammograms Safe?

Are Mammograms Safe

The American Cancer Society defines breast cancer as a “malignant tumor that starts from the cells of the breast,” but what does that mean?

Well, the breast is made up of milk glands, the tubes that carry the milk, and fatty tissues, and cancer can occur in any of these tissues. In the simplest terms, cells in our bodies are constantly reproducing, and when they start to reproduce at an abnormal rate, i.e.-faster than the cells that surround them, they cause a tumor to form.

If cells from a malignant tumor enter the lymphatic system they can infect other tissues (this is termed metastasizing).

10 Cell Phone Safety Recommendations

Category: Health Dangers, Health News, Healthy Foods, Natural Health, Pesticide Info, Warning
Author: Dr. Edward Group @ 1:34 pm

It is literally the talk of the town: people from all sides of the topic are discussing the news that Ronald B. Herberman, MD has sent out a memo acknowledging the possible risks of cell phones. If it had been anyone else, this story may not have garnered as much attention, but because he is the director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, naturally, he has caused quite a stir. As you know, I have been warning people of these dangers for the last 10 years and finally people are starting to listen.

Cell Phone Safety

Dr. Herberman sent a memo to about 3,000 faculty and staff on Wednesday. In it he expressed his growing concern about the dangers of cell phones. He indicated his concern was due to the proliferation of published and unpublished studies pointing to the possibility that cell phones pose a health threat.

While Dr. Herberman acknowledged that the evidence is as yet inconclusive, he felt that enough information was presented to warrant his issuance of a cautionary memo.
