As a man thinketh The Christian Bible teaches that "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he". Every function in the body is controlled by the brain. Garbage in, garbage out-so goes the body. A study has revealed that when a person has a disease, even though it may be a so-called "incurable" disease, if the person has a positive attitude that "I will live", 75% of the time, the person will live. During World War II, when one of our service persons was captured and placed in a prisoner of war camp, immediately his mind became occupied with "how do I get out of here". Many of the soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen, escaped and returned safely to friendly lines. But, four years later, many of those same people were shipped off to the Korean War. Many were captured & locked in prisoner of war camps. This was the first war that America had ever fought in which not one of our men had escaped from a prisoner of war camp. Cell Phone Health Risk Exposed On ABC's 20/20 By Joel Bales Dr. George Carlo, leading EMF scientist and former cell phone industry advocate, first blew the whistle on the dangers of cell phones October 20, 1999 during ABC's 20/20 news program in an explosive report based on six years of studies commissioned and paid for by the cell phone industry itself. Dr. Carlo, formerly the industry's leading expert and top scientist on cellular/wireless technology and consumer health, broke ranks to give consumers caution throughout the world. His solemn warning simply stated, 'cell phone technology, can no longer be considered completely safe.' Dr. Carlo's years of research into cell phone use and consumer safety concluded there was direct evidence linking cell phone use with two primary health problems, brain tumors and genetic damage a precursor to cancer. Carlo's research concluded cell phone users were twice as likely to suffer from brain cancer and rare tumors than non-users. ABC's nationwide broadcast last October resulted in immediate responses from the FCC, FDA and the cellular industry (CTIA). Despite accusations that the health effects of cellular phone radiation are being withheld from consumers by the cellular industry and the government, the FDA proposed a collaborative project with CTIA to investigate this issue. Producers at ABC's 20/20 re-aired this groundbreaking story this Friday May 26, 2000. When cell phones first came out they were simply assumed to be safe and never tested for health risks. However, when held to the ear up to 60% of the cell phone's EMF emissions penetrate the skull and are absorbed by the user's brain. When tested in the laboratory, ABC's Brian Ross found every cell phone tested exceeded the Federal Communication Commission's SAR (specific absorption rate) standards when held in certain positions. Despite repeated request by consumer advocate groups calling for label warnings, cell phone manufacturers still refuse to place consumer SAR information on their products. While the cell phone industry continues to deny any health risks associated with their products, the Food and Drug Administration maintains more research is needed and has advocated the practice of prudent avoidance until further testing is done. With 80 million cell phone users in North America and 300 million cell phone users worldwide, the potential for a global health disaster has never been more apparent. We have all experienced that first sign of a scratchy throat, the tired, achy feeling, the watery eyes and runny nose, the shivering, and of course, all the sinus congestion and sneezing that goes along with it. How often has it been said that we can put a man on the moon, but we can’t cure the common cold? Well, maybe that’s not so true anymore. Through doing a radio interview with the president of the Swedish Herbal Institute, I was given a sample of something called Kan Jang. As a nutritionist I was familiar with all the natural remedies for colds but this one. My daughter, Stacy, is prone to frequent colds and we have a routine to minimize the down time, but I cautiously tried Kan Jang. I was amazed that it actually reduced her symptoms and she was back to school the next day. I suggested it to my good friend, Dorothy, and the same remarkable results occurred. Well, my curiosity was piqued so I began to investigate Kan Jang. I found that Kan Jang is a small, water-soluble tablet containing an herbal extract of Andrographis Paniculata. For more than 12 years, Nordic countries have been using this as their primary treatment for colds and sinus infections, but the Chinese have been using it for years as an anti-inflammatory and antipyretic (fever reducing) treatment as well as for colds, laryngitis and diarrhea. According to traditional Chinese medicine, Andrographis is used to remove toxins. It was commonly used in treatment of tonsillitis, bronchitis, Pneumonia, enteritis, otitis media, nephritis, and dermatitis. Andrographis has bacteriostatic and virostatic properties that reduce the symptoms of upper respiratory infections. In fact, clinical studies in Chile concluded that tiredness was reduced by 30 percent, shivering by 50 percent, sore throat by 40 percent, muscular aches by 48 percent and sinus headache and pain by 30 percent compared to the group that took a placebo. In 1990, Dr. Juan Hancke of the Max Planck Institute in Germany conducted a study of cold and sinus sufferers. He found the Kan Jang group showed a 70 percent improvement of cold symptoms and a 60 percent improvement of sinus symptoms. The placebo group showed barely a 20 percent improvement in colds with higher fevers and of longer duration. In Sweden in 1992, Dr. Jan Melchior performed a study in which 71 percent of the Kan Jang group improved while only 11.5 percent of the placebo group improved. As a matter of fact, 65 percent of the placebo group thought their colds got worse! Andrographis Paniculata is the primary herb in Kan Jang. I have never seen it available in other forms or by other manufacturers. I know it is available at your health food store. Of course it is best to prevent a cold in the first place, so be careful of shaking hands with someone with a cold. The virus is passed through contact with the mucous membranes, especially in the nose and eyes. If you touch a telephone or doorknob that has been contaminated, then rub your eye, you could catch it. If you have a cold, please be careful to wash your hands frequently and to use tissues, which can be disposed of easily. A healthy immune system can enhance your resistance, but remember that sugar weakens your immune system so if someone in your house has a cold, stay away from sugar. Dairy also increases mucous formation, so avoid dairy as much as possible. Herbs that promote sweating help the body rid the virus through the skin, so hot peppers, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and other warming herbs are helpful. HERBAL INSIGHT: Stained Teeth- a natural approach Herbal Insight Stained Teeth SYMPTOMS The teeth are darker and more yellow than they should be. CAUSES The actual color of teeth is not white, but light yellow. But, as one ages, his teeth tend to become somewhat darker and more yellow. Coffee and cigarettes are a primary cause of tooth staining. Stop using them both and you will look much prettier. You will feel better too. TREATMENT Brush with fresh strawberries. Place a strawberry on the toothbrush and brush as usual. Brush with charcoal powder. Clean your teeth after every meal. Polish them with baking soda. Many of the stains are acid in nature, and the soda neutralizes and removes them. Rinse the food from your mouth after each meal. An electric toothbrush removes more plaque than regular brushing. Keep in mind that hard brushing can scratch your tooth enamel. The super-whitening tooth abrasives take off even more. Be careful. You want white teeth, but you also want teeth. Since we are on the subject of ruining your teeth, an excellent way to melt your teeth is to drink cola drinks. They contain phosphoric acid, which has a double whammy effect on your poor teeth! The acid melts your alkaline teeth; and the phosphorous immediately locks into the calcium melted off, and carries it away. Place a tooth in Coca Cola, and it will be gone in a short time.
