Guardian Air REME+ Replacement Cell
A Commercial Grade Ionized Advanced Air Purification System
The Guardian Air REME+ whole house air purification system is the perfect solution for improving the indoor air quality in your home or office. While it's true that the Guardian Air REME+ unit doesn't require you to replace any filters every few months, you do have to replace the cell inside the unit every 2½ to 3 years of use.
Replacing the cell is simple and doesn't require a special A/C technician. It can be accomplished in just a few easy steps.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Replacing REME+ Cell
1) The first thing you need to do is disconnect the REME+ unit from its power source. Once it has no power going into it, gently remove the unit from your duct system. To do this, you will need to remove the aluminum sealing adhesive ring around the unit, as well as the four mounting screws holding it in place. Once you have the mounting screws, gently pull the unit out of the duct
2) After you have the entire Guardian Air REME+ unit removed from the duct, the first thing you will need to do is remove four Phillips screws from the back of the mounting plate. These four screws are holding the "domed housing" in place.
Be careful pulling the domed housing away from the unit, as there are wires going in between each piece of the assembly.

3) After you have the domed housing disconnected from the mounting plate, you will then be able to carefully pull the connecter from the REME+ Cell.
The easiest way to remove the connector, is to firmly grip it and pull it out with a gentle rocking motion.

4) After you have removed the connector, you will then need to remove three small Phillips screws attaching the REME+ Cell to the mounting plate. Be careful not to strip the screws.
Once they are removed, gently replace the REME+ cell and then reassemble the unit.

Should You Hire A Local HVAC Contractor to Replace the Cell?

While we strongly recommend you hire a local HVAC contractor to initially install your Guardian Air REME+ whole house air purification system, we don't think it is necessary when replacing the cell inside the unit.
However, if you do not feel comfortable replacing the cell, it would be wise to spend a little extra money and hire a local HVAC contractor. Please remember to do your research on every HVAC contractor before hiring them. If it makes you feel more comfortable, you can also refer to this set of installation instructions from the manufacturer.
