What Every Pregnant Woman Needs to Know

Babies coming into the world today are not inheriting the minerals from their mothers to build hardy adrenals. The adrenals are the real workhorses of your body, and every cell responds according to the signals that the adrenals send out. You cannot live without your adrenal hormones, and how well you live depends a great deal on how well your adrenal glands function.

There are a number of reasons why babies today are not born with healthy adrenals:

For generations, we have allowed giant agribusinesses to grow our food on depleted soil using chemicals and artificial fertilizers. We need to support non-toxic methods of farming as the primary approach to farming. For more information, visit Weston A. Price Foundation.

The women giving birth to children today were led to believe a low-fat diet was best. They were told that fat must be avoided to be thin. Manufacturers of food products decreased the refined fats they were using (this was good because refined fats are also poisonous) but they increased the refined sugar to make up for the loss of flavor from the fat. Good fats help drive minerals into bones and teeth. But good fats aren't available in these manufactured foods and the increase in sugar only further depleted the adrenals of our future mothers.

Stress is a serious concern for a pregnant woman who is carrying a child. Stress depletes minerals quickly. Millions of American women become stressed about finances during their pregnancy. Not having the time to stay at home and prepare nourishing meals for themselves and their baby, they skip meals and eat depleted, chemical and hormone-laden foods during the months their baby is growing inside their womb. Many an American mom returns to work six weeks after her baby is born. She may be exhausted, but feels guilty if she does not breastfeed. This contributes to additional stress.

Future pregnancies produce subsequent children who are even more mineral deficient because the first baby depletes the minerals that are available.

In contrast to a typical American mother, a Japanese mother is pampered for an entire month. She is fed strengthening foods prepared by her mother and mother-in-law, is allowed to rest and encouraged to sleep when her baby does. Their cultural norms emphasize the importance of sleep!

American women owe it to themselves and their unborn child to get plenty of rest and enrich their diet with minerals and nourishing foods.
