There various vegetables , fruits and nuts readily available in our kitchens and our local markets. But we often forget the medicinal value and no soon we have a ailment we run to the doctors for help. It is very important to consult a doctor and take the medication, but the herbal medicenes that are available readily at our kitchen could help us if the ailment is very nominal. For eg. if someone has a gastric problem, or an acidity problem , then there are so many condiments, and other herbal cures which are at our reach, but that goes unnoticed or being ignored. I give you a few remedies on very normal and common ailments from the vegetables, condiments, fruits etc available at home.

1. Amla (indian gooseberry) Genera-Phylanthus Speices-emblica

This berry is available in India from the month of November to February usually. But now that there is so much of research done in agricultural fields the fresh berries are available through out the year. This is the only berry/fruit which does not loose its property, even when its being dried, boiled, or stored in any forms. Usually people store it by way of drying. Few pickles are also being made which last for a year.
Sweet jams or breadspreads are also prepared for its high food value and medicinal value. It has a multiple taste when eaten fresh like its sour, sweetish and bitter too.

Amla is a best digestive tonic. Amla can be eater fresh, dry powder could also be consumed. If eaten regularly, can regulate and tone up the digestive system. Can cure acidity, can relieve gas problems.

Amla fresh or in dry powdered form could be eaten with turmeric powder (Curcuma long linn) at the ratio 2:1 with warm water for Diabetes mellitus.

Amla paste or paste of dried powder can be applied on the scalp of head for loss of hair, premature baldness, dandruff.
