I'm doing research on both these 2 products for effectiveness and safety.
STRONTIUM:
There is a product called "Protos" or commonly referred to as "strontium ranelate" that is widely used in Europe and other countries as an effective treatment for osteoporosis. Since the FDA hasn't approved it, there are some non-prescription supplements out that behave similar to Protos such as "strontium citrate". Strontium doesn't occur in large amounts in nature like they have in those pills(300-600 mg), yet the clinical studies I read didn't show anyone suffering from adverse side effects. You would think that something like that might throw other minerals in your body out of whack causing other problems. My question: how safe and effective do you feel Strontium is in comparison to other drugs like Fosamax?
TERRAMIN:
Terramin is a Calcium Monmorillonite Edible Clay that had research done on it for NASA back in the 60's and was apparently used by the astronauts to thwart the effects bone loss in space. There was even an animal planet segment done about that. Its primary use is as a detoxifier. My concern about this product is the possibility of dioxins or parasites in the clay, yet I've read nothing but raving reviews from other people taking this product and the mineral distribution seems to be more proportionate as to what's in nature. What are you thoughts?
thanks
