Shoulder pain

Postby Wendylee on Mon Mar 27, 2006 9:06 pm

Hello,

I have been suffering with right shoulder pain for 3 months. I work in a gym so assumed it was some kind of injury because it wouldn't heal. I have not done any lifting above my head for weeks. Finally , I went to a medical doc/ ortho doc . I did something I said I would never do again ............He said it was impingement and since I was in so much pain, I let him inject it with cortisone. He said it would hurt more probably for a day or so and then would get better. It has been a week and it is not one bit better. This is a very well know doc in his field. He has worked with many famous baseball player and professional athletes so I thought this was the correct thing to do.

I have a history of neck problems, mild scoliosis, anatomical short leg and have been to chiropractors in the past. I haven't been in a while because my chiro moved away . I thought I would just keep active and stay in shape and I would be fine.

Right now my shoulder hurts when I raise my arm, push or make a throwing motion and when I reach behind me , like when I fasten my bra strap. It is excruciating pain in the top of the medial part of my shoulder. My pinky finger is numb and tingly and sometimes painful. It seems the nerve going down the back of my tricep is involved also.

QUESTION...........Does this sound like it is coming from my neck or should I go back and see what else is going on with my shoulder? I am at a loss and very frustrated.

WendyLee,

What I would recommend is that you see a local Chiropractor who specializes in sports injury and is certified in ART therapy. It is very possible this is caused by a pinched nerve in the neck.
