Question re: post found on askshelley.com

Postby RL1272 on Thu Mar 02, 2006 12:30 am

Hi,

Please refer to the post below, from a website called askshelley.com:

"When I first used oxypowder half a year ago, I had 3 bowel movements with 4 pills. Ever since I fininshed the 1 bottle, my constipation got really bad. No laxatives help except oxy-powder. However, it's taking more and more oxypowder to induce bowel movements. Anyone had similar experience?"

What the above says, is a direct contradiction of what GHC claims abt Oxypowder - abt it being non-habitforming. Also its effectiveness, seems to lessen with extended use. This again is a direct contradiction of the claim, that one needs to take only the maintenance dose, every alternate day for effective cleansing/maintenance. What the above says, seems to indicate that Oxypowder acts like any other OTC laxative and not an effective cleanser per se.
Whilst, I do not want to cause offence to GHC with this, yet I would like clarification on the points above. I do not, want to start taking the Oxypowder, and end up wih similar problems. I would therefore appreciate, a reply from GHC, at the earliest, to this topic. Thank you.

Regards,
RL :(

Oxy-Powder

Postby ghchealth on Fri Mar 03, 2006 10:29 am

First of all, let me say that Oxy-Powder is not habit-forming. What we have seen many times in the past is that an individual that already suffers from constipation will take the Oxy-Powder and find relief from this problem. After a period of time, this individual will cease taking Oxy-Powder and return to the problem that was already present.

Many of these individuals have previously taken or were taking herbal or OTC laxatives or may possibly have some type of nerve damage from chronic constipation, IBS, Hirschsprung’s disease, or similar condition. We always recommend that everyone follow our maintenance, every other
day, protocol for long-term use. This allows for continued cleansing and oxygenation and also encourages unaided elimination on the “off” days. The truth is that many individuals have weakened the bowel’s response through years of habitually ignoring or delaying elimination when the urge arises.

We feel that in many cases it is necessary to re-train the bowel by deliberately responding to the urge to eliminate as soon as possible. It is our goal for each person to develop habits that encourage a cleaner, healthier colon and body. Please note that this person cannot eliminate even with laxatives. This fact strongly indicates that there is a bowel problem that is pre-existing. In cases such as these, it is very important to note that the person’s history has a direct bearing on his or her present health condition.

The fact is that from the information that is provided you cannot determine anything about the person’s lifestyle, habits, health problems, prior surgeries, history of laxative use/abuse, stress levels, spinal health, or any of a number of other contributing factors. Keep in mind that thousands of people use Oxy-Powder regularly and even more have used oxygen-based colon cleansers for decades with a very safe history of usage.

Following are some issues that can also change the dosage of Oxy-Powder required to achieve the desired effect:

Stress: This affects the entire body and can restrict all of the "housekeeping" functions, including elimination.
Diet: Changing what you eat as well as possibly consuming a food that you are allergic to or to which you have intolerance.
Exercise: Regular exercise promotes elimination and can increase the effectiveness of Oxy-Powder even within a given day.
Stomach acid: The reaction that generates oxygen from Oxy-Powder is dependent on hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Decreased acid due to lack of production or medication can dramatically affect how well it works.
Medication: Many medications list constipation as a side effect including: Beta-blockers, overuse of laxatives, some anti-depressants, some sedatives, many pain medications including narcotics, diuretics, and some tranquilizers. Please keep in mind that this is only a partial list.
