pulmonary fibrosis

Postby Leroy T on Mon May 01, 2006 2:30 am

Recently, I recieved the results of a X-ray I had taken for my annual TB. It revealed "no active pulmonary disease, fibrosis in peripheral extending into upper left lobe."
I know that the term fibrosis simply means scar tissue. The only info I can find online is scaring the ........out of me. Most all of it has to do with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which is said to be untreatable and incurable.
Last September, I was involved in a head-on collision in which There was massive damage to the Dodge 2500 I was driving. Could the scar tissue be the result of that accident? I've been an emergency medic for 3 years and know that it's common to see 'paper bag pneumos' in such collisions. Could I have suffered simular damage, just not a total "blowout"? Could that be a non-progressive cause of the scarring? Or is all pulmonary scarring progressive?
