Cholestrol Levels Increase With Stress, The Dangerous Truth

Postby kaisilver on Sun Jun 15, 2008 2:10 am

Many people have so far believed that, increased cholestrol levels during stress is caused by over eating. While this is a logical explanation, another more important and dangerous issue has been ignored. The truth is that the body releases cholestrol internally during a stressful situation. The liver does this on receiving instructions from the brain. The idea is to generate 'fuel' that will be 'burnt' to fight stress. But incases where stress remains for a long time, the cholestrol is continously generated and remains in the body. Even where, stress is releived by methods that did not require physical force, the unused cholestrol can cause various health problems.

This is a very important issue as high cholestrol, is one of the main causes of high blood pressure and heart disease. A good suggestion would be to do some physical activity when stressed. Swimming, brisk walking, jogging, cycling, a work out at the gym or aerobics can all help burn the extra 'fuel' that is released by the body. More detailed explanation regarding the relationship between cholestrol levels and stress can be found at this link: http://www.health.food-recipe-cooking.com/stress-and-cholestrol-01.htm
