oxypowder and hcl

Postby helpme17th on Sun Sep 17, 2006 6:59 pm

hi.. since hcl is the catalyst for oxypowder, can this cause my stomach to have a reduced hcl?
i just started taking oxypowder 2 days ago.. i have good bm every morning but i feel bloated during lunch and the rest of the day..
i suspect i have very low hcl and fear that taking oxypowder might make it even lower..
thanks,

HCl does function as a catalyst for Oxy-Powder after it is initially taken. Some of the contents are basic while others, mainly the citric acid, are actually acidic, although it appears to help alkalinize the body. The bloating that you are experiencing may very well be gas that is generated as a by-product of the reaction between the Oxy-Powder and compacted fecal matter. This is not something that everyone feels, but it is not uncommon. This reaction usually decreases toward the end of the cleanse or beginning of maintenance, depending on the individual. If you are only having 1 bowel movement per day, you may need to increase your dosage until you achieve 3-5 movements the next day. Taking Oxy-Powder regularly should not affect your stomach acid production at meal time in any way.

If you suspect that you currently have a low output of HCl, I would suggest trying a Betaine HCl supplement with each meal; Quantum Betaine HCl from Premier Research labs is very good. You can take this product toward the end of a meal in order to help the feeling of poor digestion or of an “acid” stomach that some people fee, particularly after a meal that is high in protein or fried foods. If one is not sufficient, you can increase the number of capsules that you take with a comparable meal. If you experience a warm or mild burning sensation after taking the capsules you have taken too much HCl for that size meal.

Please keep in mind that digestive enzymes, such as Zymitol, Latero-flora, and proper food combining may all help in this area. It may also be warranted to perform a liver/gallbladder flush after your colon cleanse in order to optimize liver function. This is important because this is where the bile that is used in fat breakdown is created.
