Oxypowder after a Barium Swallow Test

Postby RL1272 on Thu Apr 20, 2006 11:45 am

Hi,

I require some information on the following question, urgently. I have been scheduled for a Barium Swallow test, tomorrow. I have heard that the barium may cause constipation. If this happens in my case, will it be safe for me to take Oxypowder at all - (at present, 2 caps a day is all it takes for me to have semi-solid BMs), or would it be harmful?
I would be grateful, if Dr Group or Dr Lanphier could reply to this message, at the earliest. Thank you.

Regards. :)

Barium Study

Postby ghchealth on Thu Apr 20, 2006 1:39 pm

Hi RL,

I personally do not like barium studies. I think barium is toxic to the bowel and could cause damage to the cells of the intestines. However, if you must have the barium study, It is safe to take the OP 24 hours after the barium has been swallowed.

I recommend after the study is completed, double the dose of OP for three days, eat raw cilantro, take a super green food (chorella, blue green algae, wheat grass etc..) and use some medicardium (1 every 3rd day) until the box is gone, to chelate any residual barium out of the body.
