no bm during oxy maint

Postby gottogo on Tue Oct 03, 2006 8:09 am

i'm on oxypowder maintenance.
i don't experience bm on the days i don't take oxypowder.
i hate it because i feel paranoid that it is causing putrefaction.

how safe is it to take oxypowder everyday for the rest of my life,
especifically regarding dehydration?
should i consider lowering the dosage if i intend to use it everyday?
is oxypowder just turning my feces to liquid and not drawing any water from my blood which might cause electrolyte imbalance?

thanks,
gottogo

Despite the fact that you are not having bowel movements on the days that you do not take Oxy-Powder, it is still recommended to take it every other day for long-term usage. My preference is to encourage people to attempt to “re-train” the colon on the days that you do not have a movement. The idea is quite simple: on these days go to the bathroom 1-2 times per day and act as if you are going to have a bowel movement. This is probably best done 30 minutes to an hour after a larger meal. Do not strain; we are simply trying to help the body re-establish or be re-sensitized to the urge to eliminate. As many colon therapists will tell you, it may even be helpful to take a low, stable footstool with you so that your body will be in a position closer to the ideal squatting position. Depending on the reason that you are not experiencing normal bowel movements, this may help to establish some regularity. If you have suffered nerve or muscle damage in the area, it may be less effective.

I would also strongly suggest visiting with a reputable chiropractor. For many, adjustment of the lower spine or the coccyx can be very helpful. In regards to the dehydration, there has never been a reported case of either this or an electrolyte imbalance while using Oxy-Powder. The mechanism of action is not to draw moisture into the intestine to create a bowel movement but rather to liquefy the compacted matter itself.
