Thanks for giving us the opportunity to provide some clarification on these issues. Let’s look at them one at a time:
First of all let me say that Oxy-Powder is not habit-forming. What we have seen many times in the past is that an individual that already suffers from constipation will take the Oxy-Powder and find relief from this problem. After a period of time, this individual will cease taking Oxy-Powder and return to the problem that was already present.
Many of these individuals have previously taken or were taking herbal or OTC laxatives or may possibly have some type of nerve damage from chronic constipation, IBS, Hirschsprung’s disease, or similar condition. We always recommend that everyone follow our maintenance, every other day, protocol for long-term use.
This allows for continued cleansing and oxygenation and also encourages unaided elimination on the “off” days. The truth is that many individuals have weakened the bowel’s response through years of habitually ignoring or delaying elimination when the urge arises. We feel that in many cases it is necessary to re-train the bowel by deliberately responding to the urge to eliminate as soon as possible.
It is our goal for each person to develop habits that encourage a cleaner, healthier colon and body. As for subsequent dependency on herbal aids, this can possibly indicate that these were being used with the Oxy-Powder or had been used prior to it and may be part of the overall issue.
There are people that do regularly use herbs or bulking fibers along with or cycled with Oxy-Powder.
Fiber is a necessary component of the diet and should be consumed daily. If you choose to supplement fiber, ground flax seed is an excellent choice due to the ratio of soluble to insoluble fiber, the beneficial fatty acids, and the lignans naturally present. Triphala, while it does contain peristalsis-stimulating anthriquinones like rhubarb, senna, and cascara sagrada, is typically milder and more beneficial that many other herbal laxatives due to the high nutrient content. As stated before, it is not necessary while using Oxy-Powder.
Fiber is really a dietary component and can be consumed on a daily basis just like food. If you do choose to use tripahala, I would not suggest using it during the cleansing phase or for long-term, continued use as it does stimulate the muscles in the bowel.
