life after gall bladder removal

Postby lottie on Thu Jun 01, 2006 9:14 am

Need help and advise. in april 2004 i had keyhole surgery to have my gallbladder removed. being only 22 at the time this shocked me. i'd suffered gallstones from after the birth of my 2nd child in 2002. But they would come and go. sometimes they would show up on the ultra sound and sometimes they wouldn't. in 2003 my doctor said i had a deformed gallbladder as it was very thick. normally in should appear paper thin. After having it taken out i was just sent home with no after care or advise on what i should eat. All i was told is that i had chronic inflammation of the gall bladder. So in the two years passed i have eaten normal includes take away occasionally, cakes sweets fruit and veg. meat pasta and bread everything and have just put on weight constanly. I joined the gym in sept 05 and started a diet of eating 1200 calories a day. I lost a stone to begin but now i can't shift anything. i can lose 2 pound in a week and if i have a day off, eating what i want i put that back on plus more. just don't know what do. even tried slimming pills and they made me very ill. i've read up about taking digestive enzymes and liver flushes. will this help. also i suffer from constant stomach cramp, bloating. headaches, tiredness, no energy. is this all connected. Being a single mother of two i need alot of energy, and my weight issue gets me down alot. i was 9st 7lbs before having kids. A year after having my first child i went upto 14st 8lbs. After my second child and getting gallstones went down to 9st. After surgery in 04 was around 10st. since then weight just crept up again in august 05 weight 12st 7lb. at this moment in time my weight is anything between 11st & 11st 7. want to get back to around 9st 7 - 10st. can any one give any advise or support please. to give me a healthier and more confident lifestyle.

The unfortunate fact is that many people do experience digestive and bowel problems after having their gallbladders removed. Liver flushes and digestive enzymes can be two very useful tools in dealing with some of the complications. Many people have successfully completed liver flushes even in the absence of a gallbladder. This process can help to eliminate toxins and promote healthy liver function. The liver produces bile which emulsifies fat so that the body can further digest it and absorb fat-soluble vitamins. The digestive enzymes can also assist with fat digestion by providing lipase and, in some cases, additional bile. A good multi-enzyme product can also help with the digestion of protein and carbohydrates. In a perfect world, nutritious foods, particularly raw fruits and vegetables, contain enzymes that actually aid our bodies in breaking down the nutrients. This is not always the case in our world of depleted soils and processed foods. Zymitol is an excellent enzyme product or, in your case, Digesticol may be better as it contains a greater amount of the fat-digesting enzyme, lipase.

There are a few other items that may be very beneficial in your case. One of these is Oxy-Powder. This is an oxygen-based colon cleanser which can help to liquefy and remove compacted fecal from the small and large intestine. The oxygen that is released can also provide an inhospitable environment for certain parasites. Another product is Latero-flora; this is a type of “good bacteria” that helps to regulate several functions in the gut. Of course, it is also imperative that you pay attention to the foods that you eat. Processed foods do not contain the necessary nutrients for digestion and can rob the body of its supply. Raw foods such as fruits and vegetable can supply these nutrients and enzymes that support the body.
