Jock itch + herpes

I had a jock itch so I decided to put some oxygenator on it, BIG MISTAKE. It just aggravated it even more. Later I put on gold bond otc, and that was another mistake. Now herpes is appearing on top of the fungus on my genital.

I went to the doctor after failing to fix the problems myself and I got Zovirax for the herpes. The jock itch is getting better on its own.

My doctor has never done a herpes test but she did pop a blister and liquid came out so she told me its herpes type one. What do you think of this? There is no blisters on my penis just genital area and this is the first outbreak I ever had.

You can have either Type I or II in the genital area, not necessarily limited to a specific spot. If the outbreak is still active, you can request a viral culture in order to confirm the diagnosis. This can sometimes yield a false result depending on the care taken with the sample. A more reliable, but less available, test is the PCR DNA. This can distinguish between Type I and II and is reputedly much more accurate. The POCkit test and Western Blot test may also represent some viable options for you. Please keep in mind that false negatives do occur and that this does not necessarily rule out a herpes infection. The reality is that there is really not a very accurate test at this point.
