Kay,
From the clues that you have given there are a few likely possibilities. First, if you have a history of pet allergies, then it may be the dander. However, this would likely be accompanied by more common pet allergy symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, watery and swollen eyes, etc. It is possible that you are being exposed to fleas from the animal or even a local mite infestation, which may be harder to see. It is also possible that you are experiencing some type of contact dermatitis from a particular chemical or group of chemicals that you are exposed to regularly. I would suggest inspecting you house to see if any of the products that you use have changed, especially hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, and laundry detergent. Rashes can also be the result of toxins that are exiting through the skin, possibly from food, environmental exposure, medications, or parasites.

I would suggest trying a full body detoxification, including a colon cleanse, liver/gallbladder flush, and a parasite cleanse. A great protocol can be found at www.ghchealth.com/liver-and-gallbladder-flush.html. This can help to reduce the overall toxin burden that may hamper many of the normal functions of the body. It can also help to rid the body of parasites that can drain the body of much-needed nutrients and generate toxic waste material. Depending on the specific cause, there are probably other supportive measures that you can take; however, beginning with a reduction in the body’s overall toxicity makes sense. Additionally, you can use an ozonated olive oil, O2-Zap, topically in order to help soothe the nerves around the affected area and to speed healing.
