Chronic Skin Problems

Postby Grace A. on Sun Sep 10, 2006 9:03 am

I am 42 yr. old woman weighing 107 pounds. I eat mosly vegetables, raw almonds, brown rice ,fish and fruit...no junk foods or meat or dairy. I rarely get sick...maybe once a year for two hours-then it passes. Take health supplements and oxy powder (2 daily). No problems with digestion.
My greatest concern is that I have chronic problems with my skin. I have had breakouts (whiteheads) for years. Tried an herbal product from zenmed company and had a terrible reaction. (I got boils all over my face that would not heal.) I went to a dermatologist but antibiotics did not help much. I was given other products and finally got rid of them except for a persistent redness around my chin area. I now take .25 mg spironolactone to prevent acne at the hormone level. Still I am having chronic outbreaks of sores (on upper back and lower fron of my legs only) I had gotten bit by fleas two years ago on the legs. The sores will heal then new ones will crop up. I am now taking perethrim cream for mites. It seems to be helping with the sores on the legs but the ones on the back are not healing. It has been several years now since I began having these skin sores. As soon as the open ones heal, new ones will come up. The ones on my back are mildly itchy, though not itchy on my legs. Four months ago, I developed a boil on my ear lobe. I just finished a round of antibiotics with little relief. It is sore and intensely itchy. I went to an herbal store yesterday and the woman recommended I take colloidal silver (SPUN) internally and externally. I know there is some controversy around the use of this product. Is it safe?I have spent years in the dermotologists office trying to come up with solutions to my problems. She is not yet certain of the cause. I have had several lab test done. no food allergies are evident though I am low on vitamin D. (I have been taking prescription vitamin D for the last 2 months-but no change in symptoms. ) Initially I had been low in zinc also, but I take supplements and last lab work checked out ok for zinc. I wanted to try the paratrex, but due to my skin reaction with the other herbal product, I was afraid to take the risk. Doctor, I hope you can help me because I don't know where else to turn. I have been praying for relief and healing.
Do I take the colloidal silver? IS SPUN safer than other brands? There is still pus in my ear boil after the antibiotic treatment, but the doctor doesn't want to drain it. What do you recommend? Thanks for your help.

As you are probably aware, the skin functions as an organ of elimination. Skin eruptions can often signal internal toxicity as well as fungal and microbial infection. I believe that you are on-target in your desire to use Paratrex and the colloidal silver product both. Given the circumstances, it is logical to begin with a full colon cleanse, a liver/gallbladder flush, and a parasite cleanse. A complete protocol can be located at www.ghchealth.com/liver-and-gallbladder-flush.html. Please be aware that detoxification protocols may spark a “healing crisis” in some people. This may be what happened with the previous product that you tried. This type of a reaction often occurs when ridding the body of accumulated toxins. It is often more pronounced in the presence of parasites that generate toxins as they die-off and are destroyed by the body. Symptoms of this reaction may include fatigue, dizziness, lack of mental clarity, muscle or joint aches, rashes or temporary worsening of existing rashes, nausea, and others. These are temporary and are viewed by many practitioners as a positive sign that the body is performing its intended detoxification functions. During this period of time, it is strongly recommended to drink at least ½ your body weight in ounces of purified or distilled water per day in order to help dilute and flush toxins. It sounds as if your diet is already very clean but I would purchase organics whenever possible. In addition, sessions in a far-infrared sauna, massage, yoga, use of a mini-trampoline, and other gentle exercises that stimulate the drainage of the lymphatic system are highly recommended.

One possibility is that you may be suffering from a parasitic infestation which could include fungus. These can often manifest as rashes and eruptions from the skin. Your intake of antibiotics also disposes you toward an overgrowth of candida yeast that resides in the digestive tract. If this is the case, you may also experience an increased permeability in your gut, leaky gut syndrome, which can allow proteins that are not completely digested and bacteria to be absorbed into the bloodstream. A natural practitioner such as a chiropractor or naturopath or your current doctor should be able to order an ELISA Act Test to see if this is likely. Following is information regarding the ELISA:

Elisa Act is the name of a blood test that measures a person's reactions to a wide variety of common substances, medications, foods, additives, and preservatives, as well as environmental chemicals. In a healthy state, we are able to tolerate the substances we eat or are exposed to in the environment. When the load of foreign exposures exceeds our reserves, our immune system is activated and we mobilize defenses against the invaders, lest they interfere with our cellular health. When we become sensitive, our immune defense and repair system diverts itself to combating these foreign exposures. This means that we defer repair until the immediate assault of foreign exposure is over. For too many people, the assaults are regular and create sustained deficits in repair of usual wear and tear. In this state, we are also more hospitable to bacterial or viral infections because our finite immune defenses are preoccupied with neutralizing the foreign substances to which we are sensitive.

Following are several products that can be used to aid in the maintenance of healthy levels of fungus in the body:
• Organic Oil of Oregano- Oregano Oil has been tested against many different types of fungus and bacteria. A very potent product may be found at www.ghchealth.com/oregano-oil.php.
• Latero-flora- This is a specific type of good bacteria that can help to establish colonies of “friendly flora” in the bowel. These good types of bacteria are one of the body’s main mechanisms for helping to control the overgrowth of yeast and other organisms.
• Silver Fuzion- This is a silver product in which the silver is actually bonded to fulvic acid, making it an angstrom-sized colloid; in other words, it is very tiny and highly-absorbable silver that is very effective. You can read more on this product at www.ghchealth.com/silver-fuzion.php.
• Mycozil- This is an herbal product that contains many products that have traditionally been used to counter yeast and fungus in the body. Their website is www.nail-fungus-toenail.com/.

In addition to the above, I would also look into O2-Zap, a topical gel that releases oxygen and ozone. This can soothe the skin and promote tissue healing. Many organisms cannot survive in an oxygenated environment. If the area of application is dry, you may want to try applying it every other day. I would suggest trying to locate a naturopath in your area to work more closely with you and to determine if it is possible to reduce or eliminate your current antibiotics and other medications.
