It is quite possible that the build up of scar tissue and inflammation in arteries is responsible for the symptoms that your wife is experiencing and the stints are obviously not doing anything to address those issues. Scar tissue in and around the heart is a very serious and is not easily resolved. According to the American Heart Association, about 25% of stents become blocked again (restenosis) within a period of about 6 months. At this point, it may be wise to consult with a practitioner that is experienced in natural medicine. He or she may be able to offer a different perspective and some different options that might help the current program to work better.
Fortunately, there are a number of therapy options that alternative medicine has to offer in these types of situations. Chelation therapy, either via suppository (Medicardium) or intravenously, has been employed in the US and other countries for arterial blockages. There are numerous supplements that many be beneficial. A short and incomplete list includes the following:
• Systemic Enzymes- Enzymes such as those found in Nattalone, Serralone, Zymitol, and other products can help to maintain normal inflammatory levels (C-Reactive protein can be used as a marker) and normal fibrin levels in the body. This has many applications but may be of especial interest to those with cardiac problems.
• Magnesium/Calcium- The orotate form found in IntraCal is noted for its excellent absorption and utilization. These minerals are particularly noted for their need in order to maintain cardiovascular health.
• Vitamin E- This vitamin performs numerous functions in relation to the heart. I suggest a natural “D” form that includes all of the tocopherols and tocotrienols in an unesterified form.
• Intramax- This is a specific Multi-nutrient blend that can fill in many of the nutrient gaps in the diet. Of particular note are the B vitamins, trace minerals and the poly-electrolytes.
• DMSO- This is a liquid that is sold only as a solvent in the US. Despite this, it has been used for many medical purposes around the world for years. Some practitioners use and recommend ½ ounce mixed in orange juice in order to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system. For a more complete history of this substance I would recommend Politics in Healing or DMSO:Nature’s Healer.
Other therapies that may help include chiropractic examination and adjustment in conjunction with Active Release Techniques (ART) that can help to release tension, improve blood flow in the surrounding musculature, and decrease any pressure on the nerves that enervate the heart and coronary arteries.
