10 Year Old Cancer Patient Was Required Pregnancy Test!

I have a friend who wrote the following. I would like some advice as to how to approach something like this as personally I think it is ridiculous and another way for big pharma to get more money. While I realize that some 10 year olds are starting their menstrual cycles I do not believe that it is the norm and certainly that they are not sexually active. Shouldn't there be a form that the parent's could sign refusing the pregnancy test and thereby taking full responsibilty??

My daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2000. Yesterday we went to
the radiology department for one of her regular MRI's. They now require all
girls 10 and up to have a pregnancy test before having any x-ray work done.
(She is 10)

Am I insane for trying to refuse this? They refused to see her if I didn't
consent. Our insurance will only cover an MRI through this location because
it is who her Neuro-Oncology Dr. referred her to. I asked her Neuro oncology
Dr. about it and he said that is was the only place his office refers to. He
is one of only 4 neuro-oncology pediatric brain surgeons on our insurance
and they are all in a group. The next closest one is a 4 hour drive.

We do love our nuero-oncologist. He is the man who separated the Egyptian
twins join at the head. (If you saw that in the news.) We can't imagine
changing.

What would you do? One of my issues was that my daughter was so humiliated
by it. She is use to having to pee in a cup sometimes, but then to have this
man came in the bathroom after she left and do the test, she was horrified.
